11.6-Inch Widescreen Display

Power-Sipping Processor
Newly designed from the ground up, the Intel Atom Z520 uses a 45nm (nanometer) design structure with new hafnium-infused circuitry–which reduces electrical current leakage in transistors–to conserve even more energy and give you more time away from the wall outlet. The Intel Atom Z520 provides a 1.3 GHz CPU speed with a 533 MHz front-side bus (FSB) and 512 KB L2 cache–which uses just 2 watts of power. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system’s performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.) It supports Intel’s 64-bit computing architecture, which can allow the use of extended virtual and physical memory with compatible 64-bit software, as well as Intel’s Hyper-Threading technology for speedier multitasking.

Customer Review: THe Aspire One is a great Netbook
This is a really easy device to use. Much more practical than 8-10 inch netbooks, this one is actually useful. It is the perfect size, right between netbook and laptop. Full size keyboard with big buttons. The 11.6″ screen make you feel ike you’re using a real machine, not a toy. The Vista OS runs too slow on it, but an upgrade to WinXP sovled all of my speed problems. This unit is not powerful enough to ship with Vista, and Acer made a mistake by not shipping it with XP. Acer support was worthless when I asked about the XP drivers. I had to find Drivers myself for XP, and found that a competing Fujitsu model carried all the drivers I needed for this unit. Once that was resolved, no problems. Divx Movies, Music, Youtube all run great. OS runs very snappy with 2GB RAM, and the 250GB hard drive is perfect. I got the 3 cell battery, it lasts 2.5 hours with normal use. I will be gettign the 6 cell upgrade separately. I would recommend anyone seriously using this unit as a road warrior get the model that has the 6 cell battery. It’s only 50 bucks more, and you get twice the battery life. I paid $399, wish I had gotten the $449 version with upgraded battery.
Customer Review: Near perfect
After being extremely disappointed with my Eee 10.1 PC, I decided to go back to the original Aspire One series and try the larger screen and keyboard - the Acer Aspire One AO751h-1611 is near flawless. The screen is very clear and bright, the camera appears bright, the Hard Drive is generous at 250 GB and the memory is great at a full 2 GB out of the box.
I also like the fact that it ships with Windows Visa versus the older XP. The weight is perfect, it feels like a feather considering the amount of power. Overall, it’s a fantastic Netbook / Notebook that will be more then enough computing power for most. The ergonomics are top notch, it see three easy to open bottom compartments, which I assume give easy access to memory, the hard-drive and maybe CPU.
Future Enhancements would be a longer life battery - I believe there is another version with the 6 cell 8 hour battery. It would be nice if they started making dual core processors at this level netbook, but I’ll assume that will be for 2010. I’d also recommend Acer implementing their simple Bios update without having to use a USB Stick.
It’s a great machine and I’m looking forward to many years of use. Acer also give a great 2 years of warranty coverage - I did purchase my model at the local BJ’s Wholesale, but they only had Black in stock, I would have preferred a “fun” color.
I realize that these are affordable netbooks, but I have to remove a star* for all the ultra annoying applications that come preloaded. You’ll spend a good amount of time uninstalling many unnecessary applications they try and charge you for. For example, I uninstalled the antivirus and installed “Avast” for free.
